Since BiteMe! is obliged in the upcoming RA2 cup and we don't like cheating, we thought it would be nice to solve this problem ourselves. We present to you: The BiteMe! Cheat Patch. This patch will always reply that your Quake 2 is clean after someone has done a p_modified message. We think this is great since now everybody can freely use a hacked quake2.exe again and the patch eliminates the reason BiteMe! is obliged in the Q2 cups, because now BiteMe! won't be a prove of a clean Quake 2 anymore. The ball is in your camp again, ClanBase.
Edit: I removed the link, but I still hope ClanBase thinks about this, enforcing players to use a proxy is not really my idea of an ideal start of a cup.

En je hebt gelijk ik had tot gister nog nooit q2ace gebruikt , maar ik heb er geen negatieve gevolgen van gemerkt.

you may aswell rename your quake2.exe to boygeorge.exe because every day you play a guy will come and fuck you up the ass. biteme was patched ages ago, and i have recently been sent a q2ace 1.07 hack 1.07 works. It doesn't modify any files but you just run it before you play the game. hmmm
PurifieR: That is just a fix, it doesn't add or modify features. This patch is an exception I guess.

Enforcing the use of a proxy is not idealistic, you're right. But it's the only way since the source code is out, there has to be SOMETHING that checks if your using a hacker or clean .exe (it wil have to be obvious to u that the q2 community is not able to police itself (that's how Carmack puts it:) And then there's also q2ace...

I think you (and with you the ClanBase admins) are acting quite prejudiced. I posted a patch that was not working, does that automatically mean that I will do it again later? Don't think so. ClanBase has made its point absolutely clear if you ask me (they are even going way too far), but most people still don't seem to get it. What's next? Getting kicked because of posting a photo of a guy who played with a ratbot once?

Well fris think about it. I think it is 100% fair to kick this clan from all future cups. Why? Because bringing up this patch one time might come back after a while, maybe even during a cup and that will ruine even more!

Anonysm, by using this patch BiteMe! won't be the proof of a clean Q2 anymore. Therefore CB might decide to stop forcing people to use BiteMe!.
About the cups: we could have released this patch without people knowing we were the creators. That way we would still have been able to participate in the CB-cups. So if you ask me, I think it's lame to remove us from the cup(s).

You got that right, no changes to Quake 2 should be made. The fact that you mention edited skins and "revolumed" sounds makes it all clear to me. As for the PS/Quad timers - that's just making good use of a feature id implemented.

Is it that hard for you Guido? All the features that haven't been added by id and the features id implemented and are changed by BiteMe!, which comes down to: all features that BiteMe has are cheats. There you have it.
If you think you should modify the Quake 2 id made a few years ago, be my guest, but I don't want to be forced to do it.

Well we think BiteMe! is cheating. Q2Ace is acceptable, BiteMe! isn't. I don't like to be forced using a proxy, which is cheating in my opinion.
